Heinz Henghes

Heinz Henghes left his home in Hamburg as a 17-year-old stowaway on a boat to America. His career as an artist began in New York after he met Isamu Noguchi. He returned to Europe in 1932 and after working and exhibiting in Italy and France, he moved to London. He mixed in avant-garde circles and after the war, lived between France and England. Collections holding his work include MoMA; Wakefield Art Museum; the Royal Academy; and the British Museum.

Many of the works here were included in Heinz Henghes (1906-1975): A Retrospective at England & Co in 2006.
