Emmy BridgwaterEmmy Bridgwater was a British Surrealist painter and collagist. She was born in 1906 in the Midlands and studied in Birmingham, Oxford and London. The International Surrealist Exhibition of 1936 in London led her to join Surrealist groups in Birmingham, then London; her first solo show was at Jack Bilbo's Modern Art Gallery in 1942. At André Breton's invitation in 1947, she exhibited in the Galerie Maeght international Surrealist exhibition in Paris. She died in 1999.
