John Randolph Carter

John Randolph Carter is an American artist and poet who was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1941. He studied at the University of California in Los Angeles and also attended the Royal College of Art in London. He is represented in numerous public collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and The Smithsonian American Art Museum. His solo exhibitions include the Minneapolis Institute and the University of Michigan Art Museum. Randolph Carter is also known for his design work and his awards include the New York Art Directors Show and Graphis. In 1981, he published Mind-scapes: 104 Drawings, and his poetry has been published in the journal Exquisite Corpse. His work was included in the England & Co exhibition Is there anybody out there?
