Alick Knight

Knight was born in Sussex in 1903 and studied at Central School of Arts and Crafts. Although not an official war artist, he made many works during the Second World War, often with affinities to Edward Burra and Georg Grosz. He joined the Army himself in 1942 and worked with camoflage and cartography, as well as making anatomical drawings for the Royal Army Medical Corps and being an art instructor for the Army School of Education. He died in London in 1983.
