Albert Louden

Louden was born in Blackpool in 1943, but has lived in London's East End since he was a boy. He left school at 15 and four years later decided his 'first need was to create art'. He has spent his life painting and drawing scenes from his own visual world, works he calls 'internal landscapes'. Since Outsiders at the Hayward Gallery in 1979 and his one-man exhibition at the Serpentine Gallery in 1985, Louden has become increasingly renowned. He has exhibited around the world and is represented in many public collections, including that of the Arts Council of Great Britain, and he was included in the 2001 exhibition Obsessive Visions: Art Outside the Mainstream at England & Co.

In 2008, Louden was one of the artists chosen for the major exhibition  British Outsider Art at Musée La Halle Saint Pierre in Paris.
