Anne Bean In Search of the Miraculous

For almost 30 years, Anne Bean has kept a studio near Walsingham in Norfolk, a village known for a miraculous happening in 1061 and previously as a sacred Roman site. Thousands of people visit on pilgrimages every year.
For this event curated and covened by Anne Bean, the audience will become ‘pilgrims’ (wayfarers) led through the village, and on their way will encounter performances, actions, demonstrations, films, exhibitions and installation. This will create a basis for shared dialogue, conviviality and reflection ‘in search of the miraculous.’
As part of the event, Anne Bean’s film, In Search of the Miraculous 2023, edited by Alex Eisenberg, will be screened for the first time in Walsingham Parish Hall. A London screening will be held by England & Co on 7 September at the Sotheran’s Building, Sackville Street, off Piccadilly, London W1S 3DP.
The project, produced by Future Ritual and supported by the East Anglia Art Fund, will feature work by Anne Bean, Anna Brass, Ansuman Biswas, Selina Bonelli, Oona Grimes, Poppy Jackson, Joan Key, Scilla Landale, Helen McIlldowie-Jenkins, Rev. Gyoro Nagase, Holly Slingsby, Filipos Tsitsopoulos, Candide Turner Bridger and Richard Wilson.
