George Charman

George Charman is a British artist who recently completed his MA in Printmaking at the Royal College of Art in London. He has received several awards for his work, including the Helen Chadwick Travel Prize in 2007 and the Tim Mara Print Prize in 2008. He previously studied sculpture at the Surrey Institute of Art and Design and had a solo exhibition at the James Hockey Gallery in 2003. His current work is concerned with the perception of objects: 'When form is flattened by the image, it is perspective and surface which determine its object-ness and illusion which belies its function.' Charman was included in the gallery's exhibition, City X.
