Sara Bevan

Sara Bevan was born in Wales in 1976. She graduated from Goldsmiths College in 1999 and completed her MA at the Royal College of Art in 2003. She is a practicing artist and also a Curator of Art at the Imperial War Museum, where she recently curated an exhibition of film and photographic work by Ori Gersht. Other recent projects include curating an exhibition of works by photographer Jim Naughten - Night Visions - a display exploring nocturnal images of the Second World War; and a staging of Zardad's Dog, a video work by Langlands & Bell. In 2009 she co-curated Witness: Women War Artists for Imperial War Museum North and contributed to Women War Artists at Imperial War Museum London. Her main interest is the subject of contemporary art and conflict, with a particular focus on photography and time-based media. Her personal work is strongly influenced by Victorian photography and memorabilia and explores fragmented or elusive narratives and memories. An archive selection of works exhibited at England & Co are reproduced here.
